Herald of Paradise, 2016

In the upper right, one can see the shape of an elephant's head with two trunks superimposed on a pink background. Throughout history, elephants have been revered and honoured by many cultures and as one of the most intelligent creatures are generally considered a symbol of good luck and fortune. Elephants in Asia represent a kind of divinity and benevolence which is why there are still religious ceremonies where offerings are made to them. They also symbolize wisdom, loyalty, power, strength, fidelity and longevity. Opinions differ about the direction of an elephant's trunk as they do with the horseshoe — should it be up or down. In support of both beliefs the artist has depicted both.
