The Ugly Duckling, 2016

The painting's story is based on a fairy tale by Hans Christian Andersen "The Ugly Duckling". He looks rather strange and his head is guiltily lowered. The main accent here is the two eyes — one of which belongs to the duckling, the other external. It shows that our Self is the result of experience. On a social level the opinions that others express about us make us vulnerable and become part of our "intrapersonal"content. The artist intentionally uses gold colouring to show the duckling's huge potential and his ability to develop uniqueness and individuality. It is important who we surround ourselves with and through whose eyes we use to self reflect!
