Queen of Sheba, 2016

The painting references the "Wise Woman" archetype and one of its most famous figures the Queen of Sheba. According to the texts of the Bible (Old Testament), the Talmud, the Quran, and the KebraNagast she visited Solomon's court to test his wisdom and magical abilities. Once he answered all her questions and riddles to her satisfaction, she became a follower. The archetype of the Wise Woman represents Logos (a term for a principle of order or knowledge, the logic that is behind an argument). The Queen of Sheba can see the unseen into the mysteries of Being.With yellow as a yang symbol and blue as a yin symbol, each being associated with wisdom, knowledge and spiritual realization, the artist establishes colour and conceptual balance.
