L’Oiseau Bleu, 2016

Emerging from the egg, the bird is a metaphor of transformation on many levels: moving from the inside to outer world, from darkness to spiritual awakening (yellow background as a symbol of sun light), from silence to possessing a voice and from limitation to new angelic realms. The symbol of a blue bird (L'oiseau bleu) can be found in many cultures — Chinese mythology, native american and european folklore — and has a universal meaning of happiness, grace and delight. Mythologically bluebirds carry the same peaceful, gentle, and loving energy as angels. For example, songs such as, "Bluebird of Happiness,""Over the Rainbow,""I'm Always Chasing Rainbows," and "The White Cliffs of Dover,"feature lyrics that reference the bluebird in the context of rebirth or hope. The painting is a visual anthem of optimism.
