Le Chandail Heureux, 2016

Enamel on linen
35"x28" (90x70cm)
The painting was inspired by the novel "Romero’s Shirt" written by Dagoberto Gilb. It's the story of a man, who moved from Mexico to El Paso, worked hard all his life and is enamored with a Pendleton shirt he owns. This shirt is more than an achievement for him: it's part of his yesterday, it brings him the pleasurable feelings of today with the probability that it will change his routine of tomorrow. The blending of bright colours and dynamic lines illustrates the richness of life that we possess andthe energy that we give to happiness. As if he is exclaiming, the artist urges to the main character of the novel and to the viewer: Wake up! Do something, feel and enjoy!
